That's So Hot

Bear with me. There's a funny video at the end of this post.

Yes. It has been a while. I've been busy. I'll change my ways. And then I'll be jetting off to live without technology in Spain for 18 months — more on that later. Since it's Friday, here's a mini blog post.

If you're a regular reader of this blog, you probably know my distaste for Victoria's Secret. My sour feelings towards VS have returned.

Recently, I read on BuzzFeed that VS introduced a line of sports bras. These bras have push-up inserts in order to accentuate the breasts because apparently women want to show off at the gym.

“It’s a fashion club now,” VS's CEO, Sharen Jester Turney said. “The days of wearing our old workout shorts and ratty T-shirts are over.”

This is awkward. I always looked forward to not having to dress up at the gym...

Word on the streets says they're not selling too well. One reason might be that many women would prefer to worry about exercising than looking hot at the gym. (I could go off on a very long rant about the "male gaze" and "privilege" and actually put my college education to use, but I'll leave it at this: Perhaps women already feel a little insecure at the gym).

Anyhoo, that brings me to the point of this blog post. All this commotion reminded me of this ad for Planet Fitness. It's HILARIOUS.

Happy Friday, everyone. (And just a friendly reminder from our friends at Beauty Redefined: You're capable of much more than looking hot).

UPDATE: I’m not writing on Blogger much anymore, but if you would like to follow me and my writing, please sign up through the form below, and also please consider a free or paid subscription. I’d love to see you over at The Charrette. I'll still keep writing things on here, but mostly as a way to keep all of you updated on what's going on with my career currently. You can read more about it here
