Little Red Riding Hood and Big Plans

No! Don’t leave! I can explain.

I need to apologize for not posting for so long. But don’t worry, it’s all for a good reason. I’ve been in school, and I’m starting my final semester for my bachelor’s degree in five days!

It’s real. I’m graduating soon, and only 8 semesters later than I should have. Since my week won’t be consumed by 30 hours of work, 50 hours of school, and what seems to be an endless supply of education related crises, I have big plans with what I’m going to do with my free time. I want to do things that I loved to do when I had more time, like sewing and reading and sleeping. But most importantly, I want to focus more on this blog!

What this means is that I will post more, cover more events, and possibly even re-brand the blog. I also want to focus this blog on my designs and illustration—along with the typical feminism and how-to fare—which brings me to the purpose of this post.

As you might know from one of my previous posts, I waste a lot of time on Pinterest coming up with mood boards. One that I’m particularly proud of is my Little Red Riding Hood board. I worked intensely on this board a few months ago.

Often, when I immerse myself in visual inspiration, I come up with great ideas like I’m receiving a vision (virtually any creative person will tell you this). What is important to remember when you have an idea come to you in this way is that you should jot it down before your brain starts to edit it. You can always change it later when you have had time to think about it.

This is what I came up with after working on this board:

I came up with this one while I was in the shower. I hopped out soapy and wet then ran to my room to sketch this out on the back of a wedding invitation.

This idea came the same night while I was sleeping.

I’m almost out of the woods!

UPDATE: I’m not writing on Blogger much anymore, but if you would like to follow me and my writing, please sign up through the form below, and also please consider a free or paid subscription. I’d love to see you over at The Charrette. I'll still keep writing things on here, but mostly as a way to keep all of you updated on what's going on with my career currently. You can read more about it here
