Madrid Fashion Week

As many of you know, Kathleen is serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (the Mormons) in Madrid, Spain.  She'll be back in March, 2016.

In her honor, here is a link to Madrid Fashion Week.  She missed it because she's busy working.  It was two weeks ago.  Here is a link:

Adiós Mis Amigos

Warning: This post is a major departure from what I normally talk about.

I mentioned in my last blog post, that I’m jetting off to Spain to go live like a nomad with no technology. I suppose you deserve some sort of explanation as to why I’m leaving you:

Let me explain. I’m a Mormon. Or, in more accurate terms, I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Additionally, I decided I’ll be a missionary for my church starting in September.

You know those people who run around in conservative suits and dresses, black name tags, big smiles, and a navy blue book titled “The Book of Mormon”? The creators of South Park made a musical about us. For 18 months, I’m going to be one of those.

Some of you might think I’m crazy, and to tell you the truth, I don’t blame you. I feel like I’ve gone a little nuts myself. I never thought that I would do something like this, but I feel like God has called me personally to do this work. I’m scared to leave my life and family for 18 months, but I feel peace and happiness to know I’m doing what God has asked of me.

I’m half-way tempted to tell you about missionary clothing requirements and show you the skirts I’ve been making, but I want to take this post to tell you about something more important: My testimony of Jesus Christ.

Despite my skeptical nature, I know there is a God, and He loves us. I know that because of that deep, undying love, He has provided a savior for us. Because of Jesus Christ and His sacrifices, we will live again; we will be reunited with our families; we can repent of our sins. I know that our savior knows each of us personally and loves us. He has felt what we have felt, and, with faith, He can guide us through this life.

Thanks for reading. I’ll be back in 18 months. If you want to keep up with me on my mission, you can read my blog here.

That's So Hot

Bear with me. There's a funny video at the end of this post.

Yes. It has been a while. I've been busy. I'll change my ways. And then I'll be jetting off to live without technology in Spain for 18 months — more on that later. Since it's Friday, here's a mini blog post.

If you're a regular reader of this blog, you probably know my distaste for Victoria's Secret. My sour feelings towards VS have returned.

Recently, I read on BuzzFeed that VS introduced a line of sports bras. These bras have push-up inserts in order to accentuate the breasts because apparently women want to show off at the gym.

Happy Halloween!

I have to get this off my chest: I love Halloween. I love seeing everyone’s costume and trying to guess what they are. I love Halloween parties. I love candy!

Some of you might even remember my post about Art Meets Fashion where Pretty Macabre showed their spooky collection of costumes. As you can imagine, I was in heaven. Here are some more photos from that night:

London Fashion Week — Spring/Summer 2014

Yeah, I know. You have heard me harp on and on about Paris and New York, but one thing you haven’t heard me talk enough about is London. Actually, London is one of my favorite cities in the world, and I would be lying if I said I didn’t daydream about moving there at least once per day.

From a trip I took to London back in 2011. I talk a little about it in this blog post.

Obviously, one of the reasons I love London (and the British) is because of the fashion. The British fashion scene has a rich, statement-filled history. From bespoke tailoring to punk rock, British fashionistas have it all, and it’s apparent in this year’s spring/summer fashion week.

Here are some of my favorite shows:
